The Stonemasons Cottage is a rural Community Interest Company (CIC) (NI694452) in the North Sperrin's, Co Derry, Northern Ireland. Our goal is to restore the Stonemason’s Cottage a B1 listed building in Ballyrory, Claudy, Co Derry to its original state (circa 1843).
The cottage is thatched under tin with a historical roof structure. The quality and style of stonemasonry and the materials used in the making of the historical roof structure (Cruck Truss) are amazing.
We aim to make the Stonemason’s Cottage a Practice Learning Centre for Heritage Building Skills such as thatching, stonemasonry and carpentry and a focus for historical tourism. Most importantly we want to create a place where the local community can use the space to appreciate this important built heritage in the North Sperrin's region.
